Pre - Training
At KES we take horses for a number of different trainers and owners. Horses returning from a break or injury can thrive from receiving one on one attention, road work, flat work, pole work, cross country and hacking around the farm. In recent years flat work and pole work has become popular for many of our racehorse clients who like to get their horses building muscle, using themselves and becoming more balanced within themselves before returning to full training.
We understand the importance of having a horse both well in themselves and healthy before returning to a trainer. We like them to return still retaining plenty of condition so the trainer has a base to begin working from.
Older Race Horses
We have taken many older horses from many different trainers in the past at KES. Horses who may have lost there way, their form may have dipped and they have fallen out of love with the game. A change of scenery for a month or so may be all that is needed. Many horses can get tired of the same routine day in and out, the same sand gallop the same stable. Here at KES we like to rejuvenate them by introducing pole work, flat work, cross country, hacking the roads and forestry and doing all our cantering around the farm (ground permitting) staying away from the hardships of the sand gallops. We often bring older horses out for a days hunting which can really get there juices back flowing. Many of the horses we have taken return back to their trainer bursting from there skins after finding a new lease of life.
We take racehorses in the strictest of confidence and understand the importance of this.
